Special Session
Improved Oil Recovery: Looking Into the Past To Brighten the Future
1400 to 1700 hours, Tuesday, 23 September
In the late 70s and early 80s, some enhanced oil recovery projects suffered from the same fate: technical success but economic failure. If only the oil price had been higher...
Now in 2008, with oil prices exceeding USD 100 per barrel, improved oil recovery (IOR) processes, both old and new, are making headlines.
This special session will bring leading industry experts in various fields of IOR to present what we have learned from the past, what advances in technology promise to produce better results, how these processes can be applied currently, and what impact they have on the future. For the IOR processes listed below, the emphasis will be on the future potential.
At the end of the session, you can address questions to any or all of the experts. This session targets all engineers, new and experienced, who are interested in what the future may hold.
Topics include:
- Waterflood Conformance
- Thermal Recovery
- Chemical Floods
- Miscible Gas/CO2 Recovery
- Offshore IOR Processes
- Advanced Techniques in IOR
