Note:
- All official ATCE sessions, events, and exhibits are held at the Fortezza da Basso (excluding the Opening General Session and Annual Banquet).
- SPE will not provide transportation between the venue and official hotels. Attendees will need to take a taxi if their hotel is not within walking distance.
- NewTours is the official housing company for ATCE. No other hotel/housing provider is authorized to contact you on behalf of ATCE. We will vigorously pursue these other companies to prevent unauthorized contact.

Where to Eat During ATCE
Full conference registration includes daily lunch (Monday–Wednesday). 1-day registration includes lunch on the day you are attending.
If you arrive early or stay late, view a list of other restaurants near the Fortezza da Basso center which are open for lunch. Please note: some of these restaurants have a small capacity and only a few accept reservations.
Travel
Air Travel
ATCE attendees have several different options for flying into or near Florence. Here are two common options:
Florence Airport, “Amerigo Vespucci”
- Approximately 15 minutes from city center (about 4 km)
- Average cost of taxi from airport to city center is EUR 25
- Airlines that service the airport include Air France, Alitalia, Austrian, Belle Air, Brussels Airlines, Carpatair, Cimber Sterling, ElbaFly operated by Heli Air Services, Flybaboo, Lufthansa, Meridiana, and Swiss Airlines.
- Major cities that fly into Florence include Rome, Zurich, Cagliari, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid, Munich, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, and Vienna.

Rome Airport, “Fiumincino/Leonardo Da Vinci”
- Attendees can fly into Rome and then travel to Florence by train. The airport is connected to the main train station (see train travel information below).
- Airlines that service the airport include Aegean, Aer Lingus, AeroMexico, Air Algerie, Air Baltic, Air Canada, Air China, Air France, Air Italy, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Continental Airlines, Emirates, Estonian, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Kuwait Airways, Norwegian Air, Qantas, Qatar Air, Saudi Arabian Air, United Airlines, and US Airways.

Other Airport Options
Train Travel
The main railway station in Florence is the Santa Maria Novella station. It is located in the center of the city, close to the Fortezza da Basso. Immediately in front of the station is the most important stop for all public buses serving the inner city and outside the city. The second railway station in Florence is Firenze Campo Marte. Transportation from Italy airports and train stations
Florence airport shuttle bus – service provided between the Florence Airport and Florence Railway Central Station.
Pisa airport bus to Florence – an alternative to taking trains from the Pisa Airport to Florence. It takes you directly to the Florence Railway Central Station. It is best to reserve this service in advance.
COAVE Florence Airport Transfer Services – chauffeur service (van or sedan) from Florence, Pisa, Bologna, Rome, or Milan Airport to your hotel or the conference venue. COAVE is offering a special discount for ATCE attendees.

VISA INFORMATION
The process for obtaining a passport or visa may take several months. Create an official SPE invitation letter online that you can print and use in obtaining a visa. Please note that this letter does not guarantee that you will be granted a visa, nor does it commit SPE to assist you in obtaining a visa.
