SPE Canadian Educational Foundation

Earlier this year, the SPE Canadian Educational Trust was converted into a new entity, the SPE Canadian Educational Foundation (SPECEF). With the new governance structure, SPECEF has the flexibility to create new programs, scholarships and energy educational initiatives that will benefit SPE Canada members.

Prior to the governance change, the SPE Educational Trust gave more than CAD 300,000 to Canadian post-secondary institutions in the form of bursaries; supported women in science and engineering through WISEST; and donated to science fairs in Calgary and Edmonton.

The SPECEF Board has plans to continue supporting Canadian energy education and grow its portfolio of programs. First on the list is the creation of a formalized Canadian post-secondary scholarship program aimed at science and engineering students, with committee representation from SPE Sections across Canada.

SPE members can support the SPECEF through one-time or monthly donations. Charitable contributions to SPECEF are tax deductible and will go towards scholarships and energy educational programs. Donations can be made online or by mail.

Donations to the SPE Canadian Educational Foundation can be made online or by mail. An annual charitable tax receipt will be sent by email for donations more than CAD 20.

Send a donation cheque, made payable to SPE Canadian Educational Foundation or SPECEF, to: 1410, 715 5th Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2P 2X6

For questions regarding SPECEF, please email specef@spe.org or call +1.403.930.5465.
