| 2007 SPE Drilling & Completion Outstanding Technical Editors |
Every year, the Review Chairpersons recognize Technical Editors on the
Editorial Review Committee who made an exceptional effort to ensure the
technical excellence of the Society’s permanent literature. For 2007, the
following Technical Editors on the SPE Drilling & Completion
Editorial Review Committee received the Outstanding Technical Editor Award:
Glen Benge, ExxonMobil Corporation; Curtis Cheatham,
Weatherford International; Jose C. Cunha, University of Alberta;
Barkim Demirdal, University of Alberta; Roy Hartley, Aurelian Oil
& Gas; Patrick Kenny, Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids; Michael R.
Morgenthaler, Cutpoint; Paul Paslay, Manatee; Joao Carlos
Placido, Petrobras; Kaibin Qiu, Schumberger; and Christoph
Zerbst, SEIC.
New Executive Editor Joins SPEDC
Beginning with the March 2008 issue, Robert F. Mitchell will replace John
Mason as Executive Editor of SPE Drilling & Completion. Robert F.
Mitchell is a Halliburton Fellow in the Halliburton Drilling and Evaluation
Division. He has published over 70 papers on drilling and well completion
problems and was the drilling editor for the SPE Petroleum Engineers
Handbook. He won the SPE Drilling and Completions Award for 2005. He was
vice president of Enertech Engineering and Research Company from 1980 to 1996
and worked at Exxon Production Research Co from 1973 to 1980. He holds BA, MME,
and PhD degrees from Rice University, and is a registered professional engineer
in Texas.
Several new Review Chairpersons have been invited to serve on the
SPEDC Editorial Review Committee to replace those whose terms have
expired. They are Curtis Cheatham, Weatherford International; Joao
Carlos Placido, Petrobras; and John Mason, BP Exploration Operating
Company.
