Tight Gas

2–5 November
Bilderberg Europa Hotel
Scheveningen, The Netherlands

This multi-discipline workshop will address issues that affect appraisal and development of tight gas reservoirs, with a focus on Europe and North Africa.

Globally, a steadily increasing and important part of gas production is derived from tight to very tight formations. Overcoming the many and varied economic and technical hurdles faced in unlocking tight reservoirs remains difficult. Achieving a first-time-right performance will depend on a holistic understanding of the issues.

Key focus areas for ensuring technical and commercially successful development from tight reservoirs are in-depth reservoir characterisation and creating a good understanding of inflow performance and life-cycle production profiles together with the associated cost challenges.

The workshop sessions are designed in a bottom-up flow covering the spectrum of issues, starting with reservoir description, through development approaches and execution, and ending with a commercial session. In each of the individual sessions there will be focus on data acquisition, data evaluation and uncertainty, and deployment of existing (and new/novel) technology and methodologies. Each session will feature case studies/presentations from Europe, North Africa, North America, or
other parts of the world.

The participation of major and smaller operating companies, service companies, and governmental bodies will allow a wide sharing of views and opinions on how to proceed with developing tight gas in economically challenging times and high cost environments.

Objectives and Deliverables

The workshop is a limited attendance meeting and will provide a top-rate opportunity for geoscientists, engineers, and decision makers who are actively engaged on tight gas projects in the European and North African regions to interact, discuss, share ideas and best practices, and gain knowledge of options for appraisal and development.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is a vehicle for sharing knowledge and information on the tight gas reservoirs. It is a must- attend for those engaged on tight gas development projects, such as reservoir engineers, production engineers, drilling and completion engineers, geologists, geophysicists, and research and development geoscientists/engineers.
