Better geological understanding and improved drilling practices are making shale gas projects in the Appalachian Basin both feasible and lucrative. As drilling expands across the basin, a range of economic, environmental, and regulatory challenges present a need to develop better field practices. One of the key challenges limiting the play expansions is water management. This workshop will address all aspects of water management including fracturing fluids, water source, reuse, disposal, economics, and regulatory oversight in the Appalachian Basin.
This SPE regional technology workshop is designed for industry leaders, practicing engineers, operators, and regulators to gather in an interactive environment to transfer technologies and concepts, and to discuss methods that can be used to ensure proper water management.
