Increasingly complex exploration, development, and production challenges must be addressed to meet future demand growth. This technical session will bring together regional industry experts to discuss current challenges experienced by the industry. Topics to be discussed will include production from low permeability reservoirs, water production management, and digital technology.

Session 4: Emerging Technology and Future Trends in Technical Disciplines

The future of oil and gas industry is heavily driven by technology. Technology has given us the ability to supply energy from sources once considered impossible. Experienced speakers are invited to address technological advances in accessing and producing both conventional and unconventional resources at optimum cost and reduced environmental footprint.

Session 5: Essential Soft Skills in Oil & Gas Industry

An overriding challenge for professionals of every level is to balance the development of technical and interpersonal skills. Many skills such as negotiation and effective team integration never lose their importance. Likewise, being culturally sensitive and aware of how to communicate effectively across borders with both internal and external customers has increased as more companies continue to spread further across international borders.

Session 6: Putting the Puzzles Together

In this break out session, participants will work in groups to solve a challenging puzzle. Teamwork is the key to success in this activity, and skills such as leadership, communication, negotiation, and project management will be built upon in this exciting challenge.

Session 7: Micro Debates – Your Opinion on Issues Related To Oil & Gas Industry

A no-holds barred engaging debate where participants challenge each other and debate under the guidance of moderators and experienced professionals who will provide guidance and add fodder for thought. Clear conclusions and action items will be drawn on all topics. The debate topics will be posted on the SPE Young Professionals Network and young professionals are encouraged to post their comments and thoughts before the workshop.

Session 8: Career Progression in Oil & Gas Industry

What is the best path to success? Where does a mentor fit into career planning? How do professional organisations benefit my career? There are various methods and places to learn the best career development suggestions. This session will attempt to provide perspective on some of these resources and weigh the differences between the choices available to today’s young professionals.

Session 9: “Walking the Talk” – The Way Forward

This session will provide the platform for young professionals to share their opinion on how to make a difference at their workplace with emphasis on technical and soft skills competencies. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from mentors on ways to enhance their career.
