Reservoir development and management requires reliable production forecasts based on accurate and effective models, integrating all data available from various types and scales. This process of characterisation, modelling and simulation also needs an integration of the disciplines and techniques shared by the reservoir engineers, geophysicists and geoscientists. This group need to work together in order to design workflows to build bridges between their respective disciplines and close loops. With this perspective in mind, the workshop will gather specialists and practitioners to exchange experiences about their current practices and recent advances, to identify the key components in this process and to determine directions for further improvements.
The workshop is designed for professionals in the oil and gas industry and academics interested in the development, implementation and application of an integrated workflow for closing the loop between reservoir simulations, geological models and physical measurements of the subsurface. The workshop is aimed at oil and gas industry professionals currently involved in reservoir engineering, geological model building and simulation. Attendees should be:
The technical sessions will cover the following:
Two and a half days of informal sessions, with a number of short presentations and breakout discussions per session, an evening welcome reception on Sunday 21 October and dinner on Monday 22 October. Full details will be issued with the joining instructions in October.
70-80 delegates from relevant disciplines with proven experience and/or knowledge of the subject areas being covered.
The workshop qualifies for SPE Continuing Education Units (CEU), at the rate of 0.1 CEU per hour of the workshop.
The steering committee will appoint a scribe to make a full report of the workshop, summarising all presentations and discussion. This report will be circulated to all attendees. The copyright of the scribe’s report will belong to SPE.
All attendees will receive a certificate from SPE attesting to their participation.
Written notice received 30 days before the starting date of the workshop entitles registrants to a 50% refund. There will be no refund for cancellations received after this time but alternative delegates will be welcomed.
