The classical view of flow assurance is that of an engineering discipline that utilises in-depth knowledge of fluid properties in conjunction with other aspects of production system design in order to ensure safe, economic, and reliable production operations from the reservoir to the delivery point. Flow assurance has been associated, since the 90's, with the use of transient simulation notably for line sizing, liquid management, and hydrate management.
