Horizontal and Multilateral Wells—Are All Our Options Exhausted

23 – 25 April 2013

Moscow, Russia | Aerostar Hotel Moscow

About this Workshop

Abstract

The proportion of complex reserves in today's production profile worldwide is constantly increasing in the last decades. Hydrocarbon reserves associated with highly heterogeneous reservoirs, low thickness pay zones, complex fluid saturation profiles, and extremely low permeability rock are currently playing a significant role in reserves and production portfolios. Geographic and operationally complex environments, such as the Arctic's offshore and extra deep water, are becoming an operational standard for many companies.

The increasing complexity of the reserve structure, associated risks, and very tight economic constraints for many E&P projects place a high demand on developing and implementing technologies and workflows that target optimal development.

One of the rapidly developing technology areas is the use of horizontal, extended-reach, and multilateral wells. Applications of horizontal drilling technology have a proven record of significant, positive impact

on production and recovery, but at the same time it introduces additional complications, risks, and challenges to the well design process, drilling technology itself, data evaluation, and integration techniques.

The workshop is aimed at covering the wide spectrum of horizontal and lateral wells applications, challenges, and significant achievements.

Workshop Guidelines
