• Introduction (why do we waterflood, history of waterflood)
• Basic principles (importance of geology, relative permeability, mobility, wettability, capillary pressure)
• Chemistry (importance of water sourcing, clay impacts, scaling, souring)
• EOR (polymer, alkaline surfactant polymer, low salinity flooding)
• Injection philosophy (matrix injection, fractured injection, containment, sweep)
• Waterflood surveillance and optimisation

Waterflood Optimization for Mature Fields

The Committee is offering for the workshop programme the following technical sessions and topics for group discussions:

• Session 1: Data acquisition and surveillance technology: logging, DTS/acoustic telemetry, tracers
• Session 2: Geological modeling, field development, integrated system modeling
• Session 3: Wateflood  management  and optimization
• Session 4: EOR technology—past, present, and future methods for recovery factor increase, deep conformance treatments
• Session 5: Gas injection for Enhanced Recovery

If you are interested to be a speaker at the workshop, please send your presentation abstract (2-3 paragraphs with description of nature and scope of work, possible applications and summary of results or technical contributions) to Victoria Rachinskaya at vrachinskaya@spe.org before 15 November. Your abstract will be reviewed by the Program Committee to consider its acceptance for the Workshop Program.
