Deepwater technology has matured a lot in the last two decades, however significant volumes of oil and gas still remain undiscovered and undeveloped in Indian subcontinent because of rising costs, marginal pool size, and technological challenges. The economic threshold, for exploration and development, needs to be brought down through technological and commercial innovations. The possibilities include new technologies in the area of development concepts, facilities designs, subsurface characterisation, and well construction, etc. In the commercial and operational domain, it includes: sharing of infrastructure, creative partnerships, attractive fiscal terms, and safe and reliable operations. This workshop will focus on crossing various thresholds to unlock the resource potential of the deepwater basins located around the Indian subcontinent.
Following on the reputation of organising highly successful workshops in the area of deepwater development for the last six years, SPE will host the seventh deepwater workshop entitled “Crossing the Thresholds” from 16 to 18 September 2014 in Mumbai, India.
Experienced individuals who will actively share their own experience and will contribute to the discussions. We expect participation from the following professionals:
Two and half (2.5) days of informal discussions prompted by selected keynote presentations and discussions. Workshops maximise the exchange of ideas among attendees and presenters through brief technical presentations followed by extended Q&A periods. Focused topics attract an informed audience eager to discuss issues critical to advancing both technology and best practices. The majority of the presentations are in the form of case studies, highlighting engineering achievements and lessons learnt. In order to stimulate frank discussion, no proceedings are published and the press is not invited to attend.
Attendees will be assigned to discussion groups on a random basis for a breakout session to maximise the opportunity to interact with other participants.
The Steering Committee encourages registrations from professionals who are able to prepare and present a poster on a relevant project. For further details kindly contact Khushbu Rajwani via email.
Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Steering Committee encourages attendance from those who can contribute to the workshop most effectively either in discussions or with posters. A mix of attendees in terms of geographic origin, companies, and disciplines will be encouraged.
In keeping with workshop objectives and the SPE mission, commercialism in posters or presentations will not be permitted. Company logos must be limited to the title slide and used only to indicate the affiliation of the presenter and others involved in the work.
All attendees will receive an attendance certificate attesting to their participation in the workshop. This certificate will be provided in exchange for a completed Workshop Questionnaire.
