Considerable advances have been made over the last two years in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) technology that have resulted in increased application in deepwater and high pressure high temperature (HPHT) wells to enhance operational safety, well control, and efficiency. Underbalanced Drilling (UBD) has become the norm in tight and shale gas exploitation and development, as well as in some pressure depleted formations.
