Speech Title Materials Challenges for a Sustainable Automotive Industry
Abstract Today’s automotive industry – as a business necessity – is focused on technology solutions that will make our products more sustainable in terms of energy, the environment, safety, congestion, and affordability. These solutions encompass electrification of the propulsion system, advanced on-board electronics, new telematics capabilities, and reducing weight and aerodynamic drag. It is interesting to note that many of the major challenges to implementing these technologies are materials-related. This talk will highlight the most promising technology options and approaches and discuss the major materials issues in each technology area.
