Speech Title Infrastructure and governance to sustainably address water quality, quantity, and availability
Abstract Rising world populations and consumption are inexorably increasing human demand for domestic, industrial, and agricultural water. Population and wealth along with other global stressors will have a direct and significant impact on the sustainability goals, technology selection, and governance strategies that are related to water quality and quantity.  This talk will explore infrastructure and governance challenges and opportunities in addressing water quality, quantity, and availability for human and ecosystem needs.
Bio

Dr. Julie Beth Zimmerman is an Assistant Professor jointly appointed in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (Environmental Engineering Program) and the School of Forestry and Environment at Yale University.  Her research interests include green chemistry and engineering, systems dynamics modeling of natural and engineered water systems, environmentally benign design and manufacturing, the fate and impacts of anthropogenic compounds in the environment as well as appropriate water treatment technologies for the developing world.  She also conducts research on corporate environmental behavior and governance interventions to enhance the integration of sustainability in industry and academia.  Dr. Zimmerman previously served as an Engineer in the Office of Research and Development at the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
