SPE Asia Pacific Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference and Exhibition

ATTENDEES: IMPORTANT NOTICE The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers (IATMI) would like to express our sorrow and condolences for the victims of the hotel bombings in Jakarta, Indonesia, and their families on Friday, 17 July. The Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and the Asia Pacific Health Safety, Security and Environment Conference will go on as planned as joint events 4-6 August 2009 at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta. The President of the Republic of Indonesia H.E. Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is planning to officiate the Opening Ceremony. To ensure the safety of our conference participants, we are implementing additional security measures for the events. SPE, our co-sponsor IATMI, and the events’ advisory committees are working closely with security officials at the Jakarta Convention Center,  the Sultan Hotel (adjacent to the center) and the Mulia Hotel  on enhanced security plans for those venues. In addition, our security consultant will conduct an audit of the security measures that will be put in place for the joint events. The Asia Pacific Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference and Exhibition (APHSSEC) will be held concurrently with the Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE), co-sponsored by SPE and the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers (IATMI) at the Jakarta Convention Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia from 4-6 August 2009.

The APHSSEC programme focuses on important issues of health, safety, and environment as well as security and social issues in the Asia Pacific oil and gas industry. “Leading the Energy Challenges with Care and Responsibility” is the joint conference theme for the 2009 APOGCE and APHSSEC.
