Travel

It is easy to travel to Bergen from the Continent and the rest of Norway. Whether you choose air, road, rail or sea, connections are excellent.

Bergen Airport Flesland is an international airport, with direct flights to 56 destinations. Among these are major hubs such as Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Aberdeen and Oslo. The airport lies approximately 20 km from the city centre. Flesland is also the main heliport for the North Sea, from where thousands of offshore workers commute to their work places on-board oil and gas rigs and platforms.

Many consider the train ride between Oslo and Bergen with the Bergen Railway as the most exciting and beautiful train ride in the world. No other train ride between two cities in Europe is at a higher altitude than the one between Oslo and Bergen. Its highest point is Finse, 1222 metres above sea leve. The total travel time between Oslo and Bergen is approximately seven hours.

You may also choose to go by ferry, from Denmark. For information, see www.fjordline.com.
