Message from the Chairpersons

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Society of Petroleum Engineers the Conference Executive and Technical Programme Committees, we take great pleasure in announcing the SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition (CTCE) held 12–14 November 2014, in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The theme of this year’s conference will be ‘driving sustainable energy growth through innovation and partnership’. With significant oil and gas reserves, the Caspian region is an increasingly important source and focus for global oil and gas production. To develop natural resources in the region, high levels of investment, innovation and partnership are needed to ensure the sustainable development of the Caspian’s oil and gas fields, which are subject to some of the world’s most complex environmental and logistical challenges.

This event will provide a forum for industry players to exchange high-quality technical information and ideas. As co-chairs, we invite you and your colleagues to attend the conference to learn about and share your experiences of successes, challenges, technical innovations, and know-how at this unique event.

The three day conference programme will encompass a balance of topical panel sessions, formal technical presentations and technical posters. The four conference panel sessions will show different perspectives on key topics that industry players face in the region. You will hear from high-profile speakers and panellists drawn from government, operators, service providers, advisory firms, and energy research companies, including Shell, TCO, NCOC, KMG, Exxon Mobil and KPO.

Eighteen technical sessions will encompass fifty-four formal technical presentations across a range of topics including; Drilling and Completions, Reservoir Management, HSE, Geology and Petrophysics, IOR/EOR, Information Technology and Real Time Business Value. These presentations will offer the opportunity for sharing knowledge in an open and constructive environment which is extremely important in moving the industry forward.

Held in conjunction with the conference will be an exhibition providing you with the opportunity to view the latest technologies, new product launches and equipment from all over the world. CTCE will provide a great opportunity for you to meet and network with old and new colleagues, discover new technologies and insights into the industry and debate and share your experiences.

We look forward to seeing you in Astana in November 2014.
