This course presents the basic knowledge and fundamentals of advanced well completion technologies needed to identify, plan, and execute advanced completion projects. Participants will gain an understanding of the petroleum engineering considerations for advanced well completion applications such as project screening, well performance modeling and reservoir simulation. This course will introduce methods and workflows by which participants can select the appropriate advanced completion technology for their application. They will also learn about the equipment, functionality, completion design and execution needed to successfully implement the project.

Introduction to Sand Control

This course discusses the fundamental sand control considerations involved in completing a well and introduces the various sand control techniques commonly used across the industry, including standalone screens, gravel packs, high rate water packs and frac-packs. It requires only a basic understanding of oilfield operations and is intended for drilling, completion and production personnel with some sand control experience who are looking to gain a better understanding of each technique’s advantages, limitations and application window for use in their upcoming completions. The course also covers key sand control design, installation and evaluation considerations, including screen and gravel sizing as well as downhole equipment selection, and is delivered in an interactive manner with practical exercises and discussions throughout.
