Welcome Message from the Chairperson

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Program Committee, I invite you to the SPE Digital Energy Conference and Exhibition on 3–5 March 2015 at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel in the Woodlands, Texas, USA.

Our industry has seen digital energy evolve from concepts to deployments at scale since the early 2000s. During this time, the SPE Digital Energy Conference and Exhibition has served as a unique forum to share learnings and experiences and exchange ideas. Going forward, we are challenged with continuing the evolution of the digital oil field with brownfields and new developments, increasingly complex operating environments, and a dynamic technology landscape. In addition, we are challenged with building on the established value proposition to justify investments in the next generation of the digital oil field.

I believe that the evolution will continue and that someday more advanced digital oil fields will become the norm. The digital oil fields of the future will consist of the latest digital technologies and networked systems enabling a broad range of interdependent business processes supported by teams working in new and non-traditional organizational structures. This will enable higher levels of automation in all parts of the value chain and create business capabilities that didn’t previously exist. As most of us have noticed, the industry is already moving in this direction.

The SPE Digital Energy Conference will have an increased focus on the application of digital technologies to improving business capabilities. The technical program will revolve around business themes of interest to the traditional digital energy crowd and practicing engineers not typically involved with digital energy. The goal is to create a conference environment that fosters collaboration on digital energy issues, opportunities, and solutions.

Exhibits will be open during the conference for you to explore the latest products and services.

We look forward to welcoming you. Your participation will make this conference successful.
