Message from the Chairperson

On behalf of the Programme Committee, it is my great pleasure to present you the programme for the European Formation Damage Conference that will be held on 5–7 June 2013, in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The event alternates biennially with the SPE International Symposium and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control, held in Lafayette. Both events have a longstanding reputation as being the a premier forum in the oil and gas industry devoted to completions, well productivity, formation damage, well stimulation, sand control, and water management.

Following a record number of submissions, we have selected nearly 130 of the best papers which will sit under the conference theme “Unconventional and Conventional Solutions to Challenging Reservoirs.” The conference will encompass a plenary session and 12 technical sessions with oral presentations, posters, and exhibits.

The first two days are devoted to training courses focusing on formation damage, sand screen selection, and chemical stimulation. The technical programme will start on 5 June, with a plenary session featuring keynote addresses by renowned international experts in the area of formation damage and well productivity enhancement.

Your attendance will add value for you and for your company in terms of:

  • Learning about the most recent developments in the areas of well productivity and ways to increase the lifetime of wells
  • Networking with key players that can be of value in your decision making about well productivity improvement, formation damage mitigation, scaling inhibition, sand control, and water management
  • Capture the views of the industry experts about future developments, including in the unconventional sources, like heavy oil and tight gas
  • Enabling your asset team members to be acquainted with the critical issues in well completion and productivity management
  • Update your technology leadership by attending one of the training courses that will be offered

The venue of the conference will be the Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, located near one of the most popular beaches in northern Netherlands. The venue and other social functions of the event were selected to foster expert exchanges while providing you with a memorable stay in the Netherlands.

If you would like to extend your stay, there are many easily accessible attractions that may help you enjoy the Netherlands summer.

The Programme Committee welcomes you to the tenth SPE European Formation Damage Conference and Exhibition.

We hope to see you in June.

Sincerely,
Michael Byrne
