Letter from the chairpersons
Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Programme Committee, we invite you and your colleagues to submit paper proposals for the first European Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Conference in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production. This conference will be held 22-24 February 2011 in Vienna, Austria.
The SPE is well-respected for bringing technical professionals together and is introducing this regional event after a very successful International HSE Conference held in Nice, France in 2008. These conferences are an excellent way for HSE professionals in the Oil and Gas Industry to come together and share best practices and bring up issues for future improvement. It also provides a unique template to share views and concerns with a wide range of stakeholders.
The theme for this conference is “HSE Performance Across Europe – From Mature Assets to New Frontiers”. This theme reflects the challenges and range of environments within the European E&P sector. Efforts are being made to better understand the performance and how to best learn from leading companies. The conference aims to provide a unique opportunity for professionals to share experience with their colleagues, and to build a fruitful dialogue with the stakeholders. The SPE community seeks a wide and diverse range of contributors such as:
- HSE professionals, experts and managers of oil and gas companies and from supply industry, consultants, and contractors
- Local, national, and international governmental organisations
- Non-governmental organisations
- Institutes and universities
- Professional societies, labour unions, and other worker representatives
- Medical/occupational health, safety, and environmental representatives
Your active participation by submitting a paper proposal will ensure a successful conference in Vienna where the venue has been carefully selected to facilitate networking.
Please give others the opportunity to share your experience, concerns, ideas, and best practices by submitting a proposal by 23 July 2010. On behalf of the Programme Committee, we would like to encourage you to help us make this a memorable SPE conference!
Best regards,
Emmanuel Garland & Tom Knode
