Horizontal, Multilateral and Extended Reach drilling are techniques of directional drilling where a well is deviated from the vertical in order to reach a particular part of the reservoir.
The workshop will review the recent advances made in the application and deployment of Horizontal, Multilateral and Extended Reach drilling technology and will be used to update the understanding of operators, drilling contractors and service providers of the value delivered by these techniques and its ability to reduce the overall project cost.
Recent developments in this sophisticated approach will also be reviewed together with the further developments required to address the ever more challenging needs of the industry, particularly in deepwater and HPHT.
In the current low oil price environment, there has been a move on the application of horizontal, multilateral and ERD by the operators to subscribe on low capital investment on the upstream assets such as offshore and onshore production facilities. The workshop will discuss this trend from the point of view of the operator, drilling and service contractor.
