Recent Improvements in the downhole measurement technology have increased the intervention efficiency by providing accurate information that enables real time and enhanced successful intervention operations.

Advances in downhole tools, computers, software, and data transmission have greatly increased the amount and quality of data provided. New instruments and tools being utilised to image the wellbore and measure the downhole conditions such as but not limited to bottom hole pressure, temperature, injection, and production flow rate.

Depth correlation is one of the main important application for the downhole measurements utilising coiled tubing and other intervention methods.

In drilling application, the history of oil well drilling includes several innovative techniques to infer the conditions down-hole and there impact on drilling performance.

This session will focus on how the continued development of Advanced Downhole Measurements conveyed with coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, or tractors, has demonstrated the capability to deliver successful operational outcomes.

Session Details:

  • Santiago Hassig Fonseca, Schlumberger Well Intervention- Stepping into Real-Time Event Detection and Plug Milling Optimization using Coiled Tubing Downhole Measurements
  • Adam Miszewski, ANTECH - High Pressure Underbalanced Coiled Tubing Drilling: A Feasibility Study
  • Vasily Skutin, TGT - Pushing the operating envelop with acoustic and temperature measurements & interpretation
  • Duncan Troup, Archer - Evaluating the performance of mechanical and hydraulic barriers in a well system with the acoustic spectrum extended to its full potential.
