Message From the Chairperson
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is pleased to announce that the second SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference (HFTC) will be held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, The Woodlands, Texas, on 19–21 January 2009.
This meeting will present current and proven technology in hydraulic fracturing based on lessons learned from fracture-stimulated wells, with an emphasis on how this technology can be applied on a global scale. As the oil and gas industry continues to develop lower quality reservoirs, the use of hydraulic fracturing will become more important in all petroleum provinces.
The technical program will feature a combination of keynote addresses and technical papers. The meeting will begin with a plenary session featuring presentations and a panel discussion by leading experts in the field of hydraulic fracturing. Keynote addresses in each technical session and technical papers outlining the latest technology, combined with an outstanding exhibition, will provide attendees the best practices available and make this the premiere global conference on hydraulic fracturing.
The 2009 HFTC Program Committee invites you and your colleagues to submit paper proposals online at www.spe.org/events/hftc by 30 June 2008 for consideration for this important event. Papers of particular interest to the committee are on the latest developments in fracturing, such as shale gas fracturing, deepwater fracturing, and simultaneous fracturing.
Mark your calendar now and make plans to attend this meeting. It’s going to be a terrific conference at an interesting venue!
Sincerely,
Dan Hill
Program Committee Chairperson, HFTC 2009
