Delivering Value - Creating Opportunities

On behalf of the SPE Intelligent Energy 2010 Programme Committee I am delighted to invite you to submit a paper proposal for this, the 3rd International Conference, entitled ‘Delivering Value – Creating Opportunities’.

The first conference, held in 2006: ‘Oil & Gas Production in a Digital Age’ provided delegates with a view of the latest technologies and their application to realise real operational and commercial benefits. The second conference in 2008, The Future is Here – the Value of Innovation & Integration’ focused more on people and managing change associated with deployment of new technologies and business processes. During the conference, we explored the future of oil and gas and case studies of deployed capability that were starting to return real business value in production, reservoir management and drilling.

Many colleagues outside the emerging intelligent energy community understand the application of intelligent principles to their own parts of the oil and gas business and many have excellent examples of closing the loop’ applications in, for example, Drilling, Production Operations, Well and Reservoir Management. However, the bigger, holistic vision still
eludes many companies. The SPE Intelligent Energy 2010 Programme Committee is dedicated to attracting these specialists and encourage them to share their knowledge and enable our industry to understand how all these elements can be drawn together to improve business performance. In particular we are very keen to attract key operational personnel to attend the conference and contribute to the programme and therefore we extend a special invitation to Asset Managers, Offshore Installation Managers and Operation personnel.

For 2010, our third conference on intelligent energy, we aim to allow you to:

  • Explore the state of intelligent energy across the Oil & Gas industry with the world’s leading strategists, experts and practitioners
  • See how intelligent energy is delivering value today for a diverse array of companies and starting to become the way we run our own business and interact with each other
  • Benchmark performance in terms of effectiveness, cost-efficiency, quality or decision speed
  • Learn about the leading technical developments, field examples, and business models in intelligent energy
  • Discover examples and best practices from other industries
  • Understand how intelligent energy is creating new opportunities to address our industry’s challenges, improve the way we work, impact training and development, and attract new talent to our industry

One of the big challenges we all face is sustainability and environmental responsibility. Can intelligent energy help, and can companies leverage their intelligence better to help address this challenge?

The Programme Committee would therefore welcome papers that build on the theme of ‘Delivering Value – Creating Opportunities’. To focus your thinking we have defined four categories:

  • Business as Usual
  • Value
  • Organisation
  • Future

The success of this conference is dependent upon the quality of the material presented and the openness of its authors and presenters. We, the Programme Committee, therefore look forward to receiving and reviewing your submissions. We thank you for your interest in SPE Intelligent Energy and look forward to seeing you in 2010.

Regards,
Helen Ratcliffe
Programme Committee Chair
