On-Site tour desk will be open 1400-1700 hours on Sunday, 6 June 2010, and 0800-1730 hours from Monday to Thursday, 7-10 June 2010. Reservation for city tours must be made in advance, 2 days prior to the tour schedule. 

If any tour is signed up by less than 6 persons, the tour will be cancelled or the tour price will be revised.  For other tours to Shanghai, Suzhou, Xi’an, Guilin and Chengdu, please contact CITS for itinerary, tour price and other information.

Full Day Tour to the Great Wall & the Ming Tombs

The world-renowned Great Wall is the symbol of ancient Chinese civilisation, standing grandly in the land of China for more than 2,000 years and stretching over 6,350 km. The Great Wall was the longest defending wall in the world through all ages. The Badaling stretch of the Great Wall is the most popular in the world.

Consist of 13 imperial tombs, the Ming Tombs are spread around a valley that looks like a natural courtyard with an entrance guarded by huge stone animals. Of the tombs only the underground burial chambers of Dingling were open to the public after excavation in 1956. On display in the exhibition rooms are invaluable objects excavated from the Underground Palace, including Emperor Wanli's crown and robes and the empresses' tiaras.

The Forbidden City is the former imperial palace of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties built between 1406 and 1420 and covering an area of 72 hectares. The palace has a total floor space of some 160,000 square meters with 9,999 rooms and is most representative of China's ancient arts.

Hutong is Beijing's old narrow streets where ordinary people live. The old-fashioned pedicabs will take you around Hutong. You may also walk around and drop in one or two families and visit a neighborhood committee or a kindergarten.

The Summer Palace is one of China's largest and best-preserved imperial gardens. It was the temporary palace and summer resort of the imperial household in Qing Dynasty. Built in 1750, it occupies a total area of 3.34 million sq.m., and is composed by Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, dotted with halls and pavilions.
At the Panda House of Beijing Zoo, you will enjoy the lovely giant panda, the national treasure of China.

Capital Museum was refurbished at a cost of RMB1.23billion (US$147 million) and re-opened at in December 2005. With a floor area of more than 60,000 square meters, the museum displays 5,622 items at the new venue.

Qianmen Street has long been a symbol of genuine Beijing local culture which boomed during the Qing Dynasty and has been famous for the once prosperous business complex of brand stores, street vendors selling traditional crafts and actors performing various acrobatic moves. The street reopened in 2008 to the public after renovation lasting over a year.

Tian’anmen Square, located in the centre of Beijing, is one of the largest city squares in the world.

Colloquially described as The Egg, the National Grand Theatre is an opera house. The theatre, an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake, seats 5,452 people in three halls and is almost 12,000 m² in size. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu.

First built in 1420 and occupying an area of 273 hectares, the Temple of Heaven was the shrine where emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties offered sacrifices to Heaven and prayed for bumper harvests. It represents the greatest achievements of Ming and Qing architecture.
