Chairman's Address

GharbiDear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Executive and Programme Committees, it is my pleasure to invite you to the fourth edition of the Kuwait International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (KIPCE 2012) which will take place 10–12 December 2012 in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The conference theme is: People and Innovative Technologies to Unleash Challenging Hydrocarbon Resources. The goal is to emphasise that the region is aggressively developing new and existing conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources that have significantly affected the world energy market.

This conference is co-organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and Kuwait University. Previous editions of this event have been highly successful, making KIPCE one of the largest SPE events in Kuwait. This year, KIPCE 2012 will maintain its traditional base of bringing together regional and international professionals from all sectors of the petroleum industry to share and discuss their views on current industry topics and trend, exchange expertise and experience, present state-of-the-art technology and innovation and simulate further research of technical and business activities.

With worldwide growing demand for hydrocarbons, securing new resources is a critical challenge for the petroleum industry. For this growth to be sustainable, a strong emphasis is needed for wider and more intensive exploration for new resources, as well as more efficient and effective recovery. Covering exploration, development and production topics, the technical programme covers all aspects of conventional resources, and given the increased interest and growth in unconventional resources and high-end technologies, sessions on development of unconventional reservoirs and intelligent oilfields will be included.

The conference will feature keynote, plenary and panel sessions, assembling high profile executives from upstream organisations who will address issues of worldwide importance to the industry. More than 100 technical presentations will be made, and approximately 500 delegates from around the world are expected to attend this conference. The conference will also include a teacher workshop, education day and a training course. The parallel exhibition will be an ideal venue for NOCs, IOCs and service companies to showcase their latest technological products and services.

We look forward to your valued participation and to a remarkable and beneficial conference for all who attend.

Best Regards,
