About Lima

In the pre-Columbian era, several Amerindian groups inhabited the area that is now the city of Lima. It was later incorporated into the Inca Empire in the 15th century. Strongly influenced by European, Andean, and Asian culture, Lima is a melting pot of cultures due to colonization, immigration, and indigenous influences. Lima’s urban setting is characterized by lime green-lined streets as well as the abundance of plazas throughout the city. Important streets usually contain wide, green areas, and plazas contain monuments or statues of important historical figures from Peruvian history.
