New at LACPEC! The student PetroBowl will present student chapter teams in a tournament style contest that tests knowledge of the E&P industry and SPE. Both students and alumni are invited to cheer for their schools!

The contest will be held within the framework of 2012 Latin American & Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference in Mexico City.
Twenty one (21) proposals were selected from eight (8) different countries to compete in the categories of undergraduate, master and PHD.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three papers in each division and they will be delivered during the conference. Cash prizes will be awarded to finalists in their respective divisions. First Prize for each category includes a trip to the 2012 SPE Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition in San Antonio, Texas 8-10 October 2012, where the award-winning student will present the paper at the SPE International Student Paper Contest. Judges may determine honorable mention awards for papers not achieving finalist status, but worthy of recognition.
The final paper (manuscript) and other required documents will be
due on 13 March 2012.

Under the theme “Exploring New Connections,” this meeting will join youth leaders to promote the exchange of ideas and encourage integration among SPE student chapters. It is held in conjunction with LACPEC in order to encourage participation from all Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The first two meetings held were successful in creating strong regional integration between students. This year’s meeting will continue to help increase the technical, professional, and personal development of future industry leaders. It will include an ice-breaking activity, presentations from SPE and young professional leaders, group activities, and a cocktail reception.
