A Latin American NOC in the 1990s coined the phrase, ‘Garantia de flujo’, meaning ‘guarantee the flow’, to succinctly define the objectives of Flow Assurance. This session incorporates the entire gamut of issues as relates to the optimal delivery of produced fluids through the wellbore and pipelines, to the tank farm and ultimately the refinery and gas plants. As such, it covers paraffin and asphaltenes deposition, corrosion, scaling, prevention of hydrates formation, as well as the acquisition of real-time data to understand and predict the flow characteristics of the production system.

Reservoir management and production optimization is one of the core activities of a company’s field development strategy, with the primary focus of maximizing hydrocarbon recovery. It is a dynamic process that recognizes the uncertainties in reservoir performance resulting from our inability to fully characterize reservoirs and flow processes, which must mitigate through a systematic application of multiple technologies as the optimization models that can be used to improve management of existing fields. Additionally, these optimization models should incorporate the development of future fields and their potential for maximizing reserves.

Thermal processes are the most commonly used for Enhanced Oil Recovery of heavy oil and this session will offer some new insights on cyclic steam stimulation, steamflooding and In Situ Combustion.
