The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the 2012 Oilfield Corrosion Programme Committee would like to welcome you to the sixth SPE International Conference and Exhibition on Oilfield Corrosion. The format will follow a similar theme to the highly successful 2010 event with a combination of formal paper presentations in the morning followed by interactive discussions in the afternoon.
The 2012 theme for the conference is “Carbon Steel: The Right Long Term Choice?“. Carbon steel remains the primary material of construction for the vast majority of new facilities and infrastructure primarily on a cost basis. However, as operating conditions become more severe and reservoirs are developed in deeper waters, the demands on carbon steel are ever increasing. Combined with ageing assets constructed of carbon steel, the material is more often being stretched above and beyond its intended envelope. This event will explore all aspects of carbon steel from initial selection to treatment programmes (both internal and external) as well as integrity management and beyond.
The event programme has been designed to allow for ample meeting and networking with all of the conference attendees. The morning conference allows for the presentation of new projects, technologies and issues. The afternoon discussion sessions will give you the opportunity to debate and review a range of key industry topics. A poster session will also allow presentations of research work and summarising technical projects and is particularly aimed at graduate and post graduate activities.
We look forward to meeting you all over the next few days.
