Message from the Chairs
Dear Colleagues,
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the 2014 Oilfield Corrosion Programme Committee would like to invite you to submit your abstracts for the seventh SPE International Oilfield Corrosion Conference and Exhibition which will take place in Aberdeen on 12–13 May 2014.
The industry has now had several decades of oil exploration and production. Many facilities have exceeded their original design lives, whilst new projects are being engineered with a 40 year projected life. As operating conditions become more severe and reservoirs are developed in deeper waters, the demands on all materials are ever increasing. Corrosion management therefore faces new challenges on a number of fronts, ranging from keeping ageing assets operating safely to ensuring new projects are able to meet new design lives. With this in mind, the 2014 programme committee invites you and your colleagues to submit abstracts for the conference theme “New Challenges for a New Era.”
SPE International Oilfield Corrosion Conference and Exhibition allows for ample meeting and networking with all attendees. The morning conference sessions allow for the presentation of new projects, technologies, challenges and issues. The afternoon discussion sessions will give attendees the opportunity to debate and review a range of key industry topics. Following the popularity of the workshop sessions at recent conferences, this year will see the workshops run simultaneously ensuring that all attendees have an opportunity to participate. A new edition for this year will be the inclusion of a corrosion management based training course on Wednesday, 14 May 2014.
During the event, poster sessions will support the presentation of research work and technical project summaries. It is particularly aimed at graduate and post graduate activities and junior industry professionals. Posters will be judged during the conference, with the best poster being awarded the Poster Prize during the wrap-up session.
