Letter From the Conference Chair

Dear Colleague,

Scale continues to pose a threat to oilfield production and process systems worldwide. Pressure and temperature boundaries continue to be extended as the industry exploits reserves under more challenging conditions. The boom in production from shales has been accompanied by new scale management challenges for the chemist and technologist. EOR processes have presented their own unique scaling issues. As the industry evolves and diversifies, operators, service companies and academia continue to respond with innovative and cost effective solutions.

The SPE International Oilfield Scale Conference and Exhibition is recognised as the industry’s foremost specialist scale forum providing an ideal platform for you to share your experiences in tackling the problems manifesting in your region. Therefore, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the 2014 programme committee would like to invite you and your colleagues to submit abstracts for consideration for the 2014 conference. We welcome papers in all areas of scale research, development, and field application.

The deadline for submitting paper proposals is 7 October 2013 and selected authors will be notified by the end of November 2013. We look forward to reviewing your submissions and hope to see you all in Aberdeen in 2014.
