Keynote Speaker: Scott Collis, Sandia National Laboratories
Scott Collis is manager of the Numerical Analysis and Applications department at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. Collis manages a portfolio of fundamental and applied research in high-performance computing, numberical methods, and computational mathematics spanning applications in energy, climate, and national security. A particular focus of his work is on the use of large-scale computational modeling for solving inverse problems, optimal design, and optimal control of engineering systems. Before joining Sandia in 2003, Collis was a faculty in mechanical engineering at Rice University in Houston. Collis has a bachelor’s of science in aerospace engineering from the University of Kansas and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.
