While booking your travel to attend this conference, we hope you will build time in your schedule to enjoy the beautiful city of Calgary and visit the Canadian Rockies.
Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places on earth, as vast as it is varied in landscape and experiences. Alberta is an exceptional business and vacation destination you won’t soon forget, filled with unique activities, urban charms and cultural jewels. Located in the heart of western Canada, the province of Alberta is bordered by the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Banff and Jasper, world-renowned resorts in our Canadian Rockies, offer luxurious accommodation and fine dining.
At Canada Olympic Park, you can take a spin on the bobsleigh track (that's 60 seconds of g-forces you'll never forget). Like your speed on a different kind of sled? Try out the introduction to luge. Or, catch some air and show off your moves at the Rockstar Halfpipe.
If you love the idea of spending an afternoon strolling from shop to shop, stopping to sip a latte or indulge in a sweet treat, then head to one of Calgary's shopping districts: Kensington, Inglewood, and Uptown 17th. Or even put on your comfy shoes and tour all three.
You'll also find some fabulous shopping downtown, in Eaton Centre/TD Square. Start at Holt Renfrew and work your way east, to the Bay, exploring the multilevel mall along the way (and if it's winter, staying toasty warm!).
There's plenty to do in downtown Calgary—shopping, dining, museums, and spas for starters. Spend a morning or afternoon exploring, or head down for an entire day.
If you want to start your day out with breakfast, you have plenty of choices—historic Stephen Avenue Walk is lined with restaurants and coffee shops and is just blocks away from the Westin. For something a little different, head over to the patisserie in Art Central—afterwards, you can check out the galleries and boutiques, filled with work by local artisans.
Head up to the Calgary Tower to rest your feet and feast your eyes. Western Canada's tallest observation point gives you a fantastic view of the city and the mountains. If you're feeling brave, you can step out into space, on the glass floor of the observation deck, and look waaaay down—525 feet, to be exact! Stay for dinner at the rotating dining room, or stop for a drink and a light bite.
Whether you like your day jam-packed with adventure or prefer a slower pace, a day in the Rockies gives you plenty of options.
There's enough to see and do in Banff that it doesn't matter whether you're looking for a hard-core outdoor adventure or something more relaxed—you'll find it here. Visit Bow Falls, explore local museums, or ride a gondola up Sulphur Mountain. You'll also find plenty of shops and restaurants along Main Street. And don't forget your swimsuit, so you can take a relaxing soak in the Upper Hot Springs, too.
The village of Lake Louise is world-famous for its beauty, hiking, and mountain biking, too. From the lakeshore, four kilometers (2.5 miles), above the village, you have a breathtaking view of the Victoria Glacier. For the best view of the lake, hike up to Lake Agnes Teahouse (3.5 km). Sample some of the sweets and specialty teas while you're at it—you've earned it!
