We offer various ways to volunteer and contribute to the success of SPE programs. You are sure to find an opportunity that fits your expertise. Recently, SPE started an Opinion Panel for members to provide feedback about the Society and its programs, as well as participate in industry and technical topic research. The results will be used to help shape the future development of SPE products and services.
The first issue will be available in mid-February. It will include articles on estimating costs in the Russian Arctic and Gulf of Mexico, handling produced water from hydraulic fracturing, and best practices for flexible pipe integrity. In addition, the issue contains guest columns from leaders in the Projects, Facilities, Construction discipline and three peer-reviewed technical papers.

The Shale Gas Production Subcommittee of the US Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB) has issued its 90-day report of recommendations intended to reduce the environmental impacts of shale gas production. The subcommittee was formed at the request of President Barack Obama to facilitate the development of shale gas, ensure environmental protection, and meet public concerns. There will be a second report of the subcommittee after 180 days.

A team at Northwestern University is sorting out metal-organic framework structures that have strong potential for natural gas storage and carbon capture and sequestration, as well as health, safety, and environmental applications.
The temporary office is located in Allen, Texas. The move took place during the weekend of 1-4 December and the Richardson building is completely vacant and now awaiting the start of the renovation.
