BJ Services subsidiary completes major pipeline operation offshore Australia
30 July 2007 in Asia-Pacific, Facilities (PFC)
BJ Process and Pipeline Services (BJ PPS) recently announced the completion of a range of pipeline
The Perseus-Over-Goodwyn project called for BJ PPS to provide flooding, gauging, hydrostatic testing and pre-commissioning work for a 16-in. X 24.1-km subsea pipeline and two 10-in. PoG pipelines measuring 1.4 km and 1.8 km, respectively. This pipeline system, located at a water depth of 130 m, will carry natural gas from the Perseus field in the North West Shelf offshore
According to information supplied by Woodside, once the pipeline system begins operating in October 2007, it will establish a subsea infrastructure system tied back to the Goodwyn platform that will access the majority of remaining Perseus reserves. It will also fully utilize the platform’s production capacity.
In completing its contractual obligations, BJ PPS employed a dedicated team of eight engineers and technicians to carry out all aspects of the project, which included preparing operational procedures, planning, HSE requirements, quality assurance and administration.
In addition, BJ PPS used a range of specialty pipeline testing and commissioning equipment, such as two new Woma pressuring pumps; the units, which were custom-built on compact skids for easy offshore transport, had never been used offshore by BJ PPS prior to this project. BJ PPS personnel carried out the flooding, gauging and testing work on Allseas’ dynamically-positioned supply vessel, the Highland Rover.
This project builds on the successful track record between BJ PPS and Allseas on similar projects completed in the North Sea,
“The workscope was carried out safely and professionally in just over 4,000 man-hours without any major incident, which demonstrates how all parties put safety first,” Link said. “The ultimate success of the job is a testimony to all of the BJ PPS staff who contributed to the project.”
