Chevron Gives USD 1 Million for SPE Education Initiatives
Chevron has committed USD 1 million to support SPE programs aimed at increasing student participation and advancing energy education.
The company will donate USD 250,000 per year for 4 years to support three initiatives. One program is the SPE’s student dues program that enables students to participate as members, free of charge. The commitment will also support the Energy4me program, which educates the public and students about energy and the upstream oil and gas industry, and PetroWiki, SPE’s knowledge-sharing wiki that provides information about exploration and production engineering.
Energy4me Program Holds First Conference Workshop
In November, SPE’s Energy4me program held its first workshop at the Canadian Unconventional Resources Conference in Calgary.
This workshop invited classroom teachers from grades 4 to 12 to learn energy concepts, their importance, and discover the world of oil and natural gas. Roberto Aguilera, conference co-chairman and a University of Calgary professor, delivered the keynote address and fielded questions from workshop participants.
