The SPE E&P Glossary is a new multi-language reference for upstream oil and gas terms. SPE members are encouraged to directly add or edit terms, definitions and translations. To start the glossary, SPE member George E. King, BP, contributed a collection of about 4,000 English terms and definitions that he developed. Initial languages targeted for translation are Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. English terms may also be added or edited. Instructions are provided with the glossary.
The scheduled appearances at SPE section meetings of the 29 SPE Distinguished Lecturers has been posted on SPE.org. All six disciplines encompassed by the Society are represented in this season’s slate of lecturers, and includes presentations on reservoir management, artificial lift, hydraulic fracturing and more.
Full-length videos of five selected SPE Distinguished Lecturers are available free through July. Normally these are open to SPE members only. SPE members, share them with your colleagues, and then invite them to join SPE. PDF versions of the lecturers presentations are also posted, allowing you to view detailed graphs and images.
For more than 30 years, the SPE Foundation has played an important role in supporting SPE programs and services. Now, we are renewing our efforts to establish a tradition among SPE members of helping secure the future of our society. Moving Forward, Giving Back provides an ongoing opportunity for members to join in this effort.
