Richardson, Texas (2 August 2017)—The first OTC Brasil 2017 Advisory Committee Meeting happened on 25 July with several authorities, executives of oil and gas companies, and representatives of business entities in attendance.
Among them were Christino Áureo, Secretary of State for Civil and Economic Development; Pedro Parente, Petrobras CEO; three Petrobras directors; and João de Luca, OTC Brasil 2017 Chairman. Their planning will contribute to the success of the 2017 event, scheduled for 24-26 October at Rio Centro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Christino Áureo stressed that OTC Brasil will be held at an opportune time when the State of Rio begins its path of fiscal rebalancing and gradual recovery of economic development from the homologation of the Tax Recovery Regime.
He said, “OTC Brasil is a symbol of the turning point about to occur in the State with the adhesion to the Tax Recovery Regime. We believe in crossing the oil and gas sector – the main one in the state.”
According to the secretary, it is important to ensure a favorable environment for investments in the state’s oil and gas sector. He believes it is important to create an environment of understanding, making clear that the state is investment friendly and that any distortions in the tax or environmental environment will be resolved with wide negotiation and responsibility of all the parties seated at the table.
OTC Brasil Chairman João Carlos de Luca said he believes this edition will be marked by the optimism of companies who can benefit from the positive changes in Brazil’s regulatory environment.
A committee, under the leadership of João de Luca, is currently finalizing the 2017 technical program. View the current program at www.otcbrasil.org.
