2011 SPE Annual Conference in Denver Featured Latest Technologies for Exploration, Production and the Environment

RICHARDSON, Texas, USA (2 November 2011)—The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) 2011 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) was held this week in Denver, Colorado, and brought together approximately 9,400 oil and gas professionals from 57 countries around the world.

ATCE is one of the leading technical conferences in the upstream oil and gas industry, presenting current best practices and emerging technologies to the engineers, scientists, academia, managers and executives in attendance.Technical presentations covered shale and other unconventional reservoirs, long-term global energy strategy, environmental considerations, remote operations and other important regional and discipline-focused topics.  Continue reading

SPE makes donation for landslide disaster relief to the Cruz Vermelha Brasileira

RICHARDSON, Texas, U.S.A. (26 January 2011) – The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)  announced today that it is donating US $5,000 to the Brazilian  Red Cross (Cruz Vermelha Brasileira) to assist in relief and recovery efforts in the areas of Brazil affected by recent landslides and floods. Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Worldwide Membership Grows to Record 92,100

RICHARDSON, Texas 3 (February 2010) – Total 2009 membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers reached a record 92,100 members in 117 countries, a 4 percent increase over 2008. The number of young professional members age 35 and under also increased. Continue reading

RICHARDSON, Texas, USA (4 November 2009)—The Canadian Society for Unconventional Gas (CSUG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) will present a new, joint meeting, the Canadian Unconventional Resources and International Petroleum Conference, scheduled for 19–21 October 2010 at the BMO Center at Stampede Park in Calgary, AB, Canada.

The new conference combines and broadens topics that were previously covered by CSUG’s Annual Unconventional Gas Conference and the Petroleum Society of Canada’s Canadian International Petroleum Conference (CIPC) to create a premier international event presenting the latest knowledge on finding, developing, and producing unconventional gas and heavy oil in Canada and around the globe. 2009 ATCE Attracts 8,000 Professionals to New Orleans

RICHARDSON, Texas, USA (8 October 2009)—The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) 2009 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) was held this week in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, and brought together approximately 8,000 oil and gas E&P professionals from around the world.

ATCE 2009 featured technical sessions with approximately 375 papers on innovative technologies, case studies and best practices. More than 390 exhibiting companies, utilizing 88,800 sq ft of exhibit space, featured the latest products and services in the E&P industry. Continue reading

Historic ATCE Program Selection Meeting Ends in Hang-Ups

Until this year, the committee meeting to select the program for the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition could take up to two days to complete. Some committee members commuted two or three additional days, just to get to the meeting. Last year, the committee whittled the time down to a couple of hours, but there was still the extraordinary expense of time and money just to get to the meeting. That was then. Continue reading
