LACPEC Returns to Argentina, Home of the Second Largest Unconventional Gas Resource In the World

Featuring the participation of 2017 SPE President, Janeen Judah, Chevron; SPE South America and Caribbean Region Director, Anelise Lara, Petrobras; and General Chairperson Santiago Martinez, YPF.

Richardson, Texas (27 February 2017)—With a long tradition as the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) foremost event in the region, the Latin America and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference (LACPEC) returns to Buenos Aires, Argentina from 17-19 May 2017 at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center.

Under the theme “Creating Opportunities Today for a Better Tomorrow,” LACPEC continues its tradition of unveiling the latest technological breakthroughs and cutting-edge research to meet the existing, emerging and future technical needs for the upstream petroleum sector.

“This year’s LACPEC will be an incredibly valuable event because it provides actionable insights, expert know-how, and strategic partnership potential to capitalize on the region’s oil and gas opportunities,” said 2017 SPE President, Janeen Judah, Chevron. “I look forward to attending LACPEC, which will be my first South American visit as SPE president.”

The conference aims to accelerate the learning experience for delegates with a multi-disciplinary technical program of more than 160 papers on timely topics such as unconventional resources, EOR, IOR, HSSE, heavy oil, mature fields, flow assurance, well construction, and reservoir management.

The executive plenary, panel sessions and keynote luncheons are designed to share business intelligence strategies, best practices and new technology advancing the region.

LACPEC also includes a regional exhibition highlighting the newest technologies and solutions to streamline operations, reduce costs and time, and keep employees safe. Special events at the conference will include the regional student paper contest, a young professionals session on building competencies for a successful E&P career, and two training courses focused on optimizing shale gas and tight oil fields and modern production data analysis.

Delegates can take advantage of early registration, saving up to USD 200. Discounted airfare is also available when flying United Airlines. Presented papers will be published to OnePetro®. Simultaneous translation in English and Spanish is available during the technical sessions.
