Energy4me is excited to announce free downloadable Italian lesson plans and activities on Energy4me.org just in time for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

 

Energy4me, the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) energy education outreach program, is inviting 50 Tuscany-area science teachers (of students ages 12–18) to their “Energize Your Classroom Teacher Workshop” at their Annual Technical Conference (ATCE) being held 20 – 22 September 2010 in Florence, Italy. Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Worldwide Membership Grows to Record 92,100

RICHARDSON, Texas 3 (February 2010) – Total 2009 membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers reached a record 92,100 members in 117 countries, a 4 percent increase over 2008. The number of young professional members age 35 and under also increased. Read more »

Former SPE President Dies

Gustavo Inciarte, SPE’s first president from Latin America and a former member of the board of directors of  Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), died 27 January in Norman, Oklahoma, after a short illness. He was 71.

Inciarte’s 45 years as an SPE member was highlighted by his selection as 1999 SPE president. During his tenure, SPE made progress on several issues that would bear fruit in the following decade, including developing reserves and resources definitions, forging cooperation with other professional societies, and laying the groundwork for SPE’s website. He also served on the SPE Board of Directors as regional director for the South America and Caribbean Region. Read more »
