Student members of the SPE University of Tulsa Student Chapter have been staying busy. They recently represented their chapter at the (AIS) Association of International Students International Night where they enjoyed Indian and Asian food and performances.
The chapter competed against the Chemical Engineering Department in their Annual Spring Soccer Game.
Students of the chapter hosted Mr. Ron Hinn (TU’77) of Petroskills to visit the chapter. He gave a presentation focused on how to become a valuable asset early on in your career in a volatile industry. He spoke extensively of the importance of developing the competencies that will aid in career performance and about making a difference in one’s career throughout life. Cole Walton and Ross Lubbers of XTO Energy were also hosted by the chapter and gave a presentation on drilling operations in the Bakken in the Williston Basin. They focused on drilling problems and solutions as well as XTO’s operations. The student members that attended 2010 ATCE in Florence, Italy organized a meeting to meet and talk about their experiences during the event. J.P. Dick, founder and manager of Pinnacle Energy Services, provided a Lunch & Learn presentation about reservoir engineering considerations and his personal experiences since graduating for the University of Tulsa in 1983 to members of the chapter. University of Tulsa SPE Student Chapter’s current president, Emily Woner and Vice President, Krisna Wardhana accepted the award for 1st Place for University of Tulsa Finest Organization for 2010-2011. The chapter received $500 for this award!
Students also recently participated in Service Day at Tulsa SPCA by shoveling and transporting gravel to animal pens so they can have a better environment.
Students are currently planning an educational forum for the graduate students for Fall 2011; a clay shoot fundraising event; Spring Soccer Day; energy4me programs; and preparing for Petrobowl at 2011 ATCE.
Bravo, University of Tulsa SPE Student Chapter, for winning Student Chapter of the Month for June! Keep up your exceptional level of performance!
