Congratulations to Sharjeel Aziz! He has been awarded the 2011 Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship. His scholarship is renewable for up to four years.
Sharjeel graduated number 1 out of a total of 611 graduating students from James E. Taylor High School in Katy, Texas. He made a perfect score on the math section of the SAT (a common university entrance exam used in the US). He also scored perfectly on the mathematics level 2 section of the SAT subject exam.
His long list of outstanding achievements and leadership roles include (but not limited to):
- Welch Summer Scholars Program at Texas Tech University
- High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) – NASA Internship
- 1st Place in State – Future Business Leaders of America Business Calculations
- 1st Place in Algebra and 2nd in Geometry – University of Houston Regional Math Contest
- 1st Place in Calculator, Science (physics subsection), and Mathematics – University Interscholastic League (UIL)
- Vice President – Mu Alpha Theta, Junior Engineering and Technological Society (J.E.T.S), Computer Science Club
- President – Chess Club at his high school
When Sharjeel finds free time, he enjoys tennis, basketball, and reading. His immediate future plans include attending California Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in petroleum engineering. Congratulations again, Sharjeel!
