Workshop Attendees Discuss the State of Hydraulic Fracturing in Latin America

More than 120 attendees were on hand to discuss the current state of hydraulic fracturing in Latin America 7–8 November in Medellin, Colombia.

The workshop, “Hydraulic Fracturing in Latin America: Opportunities and Challenges,” featured a panel session headed by industry leaders Juan Manuel Riaño of Pemex, Alberto Garcia of Drummond, and Yesid Tovar of Ecopetrol. It also featured seven technical sessions on topics such as:

  • Advances in fracturing design and modeling
  • Novel fracturing technologies
  • Fracture diagnostics
  • Operational challenges
  • Fracturing in unconventional reservoir
  • Fracturing in harsh environments

The workshop counted active participation from more than 120 attendees representing several countries and companies. Attendees exchanged knowledge, best practices, successes and challenges, technologies available, and the general state of the hydraulic fracturing in Latin America.
