Ambassador Lecturer Visits Novosibirsk State University

On February 13, an ambassador lecture was organized for SPE Novosibirsk State University student chapter. Young professional Valery Rukavishnikov, who has more than 3 years experience as a reservoir engineer and is now an educator at Heriot Watt University’s Tomsk Approved Learning Centre, delivered the lecture.

The lecture consisted of two parts. The title of the first part was “Oil and Gas Industry Opportunities”. This presentation was about career opportunities in the petroleum geology industry, focusing on where young specialists can work after completing their education. The second part was titled “4D Seismic Data Interpretation”. This topic dealt with Rukavishnikov’s PhD thesis, and he spoke about the results of investigations. The presentation concentrated on 4D seismic data interpretation methods, their application in hydrodynamic modeling and predictions of oil field exploration.

The officers gratefully acknowledged the support they received from professional SPE section Tomsk Petroleum Learning Centre. It was an interesting and unique meeting for the NSU SPE student chapter.
