Rajiv Gandhi Chapter Named Outstanding for July

gandhi_chapterSPE Student Members of the Rajiv Gandhi School of Engineering in Chennai, India hit the ground running, so to speak, in their first year as an SPE Student Chapter. In one month the chapter hosted a field trip for juniors and sophomores to help them understand the practical perspective of their studies; conducted a number of video presentations to help make learning more enjoyable and illustrative; launched the “SPE School,” an initiative to enhance the communication and leadership skills of students, and which will also act as an internal knowledge sharing forum; and launched a job seeker’s forum aimed at providing assistance to final year members to fine tune their job searching skills. NED Student Chapter Hosts a Day Course

ned_chapterRecently, SPE NED University student chapter organized a certified course on the topic “Basics of Directional Drilling.”  The 7-hour course was held at an NED auditorium, with 225 in attendance. Dundee Chapter hosts seminar

Sally Knudson, a renowned reservoir engineer, was the featured speaker at a seminar on the potential of the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), hosted recently by the University of Dundee SPE Student Chapter. The seminar was attended by 48 students and faculty, each of whom received a copy of the publication How the Indstry Works – An Insider Guide.

AGH U of Science and Technology to Sponsor Conference

27-29 May 2009 are the dates for a technical conference sponsored by the AGH University of Science and Technology. The goal of this conference is to provide a forum for the presentation and exchange of ideas, methods and results in petroleum geology, drilling, geo-engineering, reservoir engineering and gas engineering.
