Energy4me Educator Workshop Held for First Time in Canada

Energy4me hosted its first workshop in Canada at the Canadian Unconventional Resources Conference on 1 November 2012. Thirty-six Calgary-area educators put their energy IQ’s to the test in the day-long workshop as they heard from industry professionals, walked through an exhibit tour, and participated in hands-on experiments.

Chairman of German Section Reviews 2012 Student Technical Conference

Our 7th Student Technical Conference was held again in the historic setting of the German Oil Museum in Wietze on 18th and 19th October, 2012. Attending were a diverse group of 55 students from bachelor to PhD level. Most of the students study petroleum engineering, but geosciences, mechanical engineering, and computer sciences were also represented. As in previous years, many nationalities were present with students from Norway, Denmark, Austria, Turkey, and Romania as well as from the German Universities of Freiberg, Clausthal, Braunschweig, and Göttingen.

Congratulations to the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), runners up in the 2012 PetroBowl held during the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition on 8 October. More than 30 universities from around the world competed, with the Colorado School of Mines taking first place. Congratulations, and thank you to all participants.
